London Move - Your Questions Answered

Following the announcement that my UK practice will move to London as of February, I received a number of comments and questions from members of the community who had booked to have their surgery with me in Manchester and who are now unsure how best to proceed. I wanted to address the points raised here, to make it easier for anyone looking for more information to get some clarity.

Why are you moving to London?

You can read more about the move in my dedicated blog post but essentially this has been something I have been contemplating for several years. There are many reasons for this including patient feedback and frustrations with the previous establishment which have come to a head, as these things tend to do. The move will enable me to have transparency and ownership over the entirety of the patient process which I am excited about, as it will simplify things for everyone involved.

Why was the move announced at such short notice?

Unfortunately with my previous establishment, the relationship was between the patient and the hospital group. As such they are responsible for all communications. I do not know why the information was not put out sooner. I do not have any oversight, or indeed control, over the way in which the hospital manages its communications.

What do I do now?

Those who had planned on having their operation in Manchester can contact me directly (some have already done so). They will be offered the earliest available dates with me in London. However, because their contract is with the hospital group, any refunds will need to be managed directly through them.

Won’t surgery cost a lot more in London?

I have negotiated an arrangement with the new clinic that will ensure that fees for my services in London are similar to what patients were paying in Manchester.

Will you honour the rate I was paying for my surgery in Manchester?

I will do all I can to accommodate the specific needs of those individuals who booked their surgery with me in Manchester. Please get in touch and we can work out the specific details.

I can‘t afford the additional cost of travelling to London for my surgery, can you help?

Again, I will do all I can to accommodate the specific needs of those individuals who booked their surgery with me in Manchester. Please get in touch and we can work out the specific details.

Can I rebook with you in London on the same date that I had for my surgery in Manchester?

Yes. I have been able to secure the same dates with my new clinic in London. If you would like to rebook, please drop me a DM on instagram or email me at topsurgery@ioannisntanos.com.

Will your approach change with the move to London?

Yes. I will be introducing a new booking system this month (January) which will enable people to book directly via the website. So they will have full visibility of available dates and more control.

How do patients get in touch with you directly?

You can message me via instagram or, if you are not on social media, you can drop me an email at topsurgery@ioannisntanos.com.

I have worked very closely with the trans community for many years and I am acutely aware of the hurdles and heartache that often precede this surgery. I also understand the associated distress that can come with these sorts of upheavals. I am incredibly disappointed with the way in which this has been handled and I will continue to do all I can to support those who would like to rebook directly with me in London.
