Ioannis Ntanos shortlisted for an ITV National Diversity Award

Ioannis Ntanos has been shortlisted for the 2023 ITV National Diversity Awards (NDA) in the category of Positive Role Model LGBT. Mr Ntanos was chosen from a pool of 90,000 exceptional people across the UK for his achievements as a leading top surgeon for trans masculine, non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals. Celebrating its 12th year, the NDA has been described as the ‘Golden Globes’ of the diversity world. The award celebrates a vast range of individuals and organisations that champion diversity, inclusion and equality, shining a spotlight on role models for age, disability, gender, LGBT, Race, Faith, and Religion. As one of the country’s leading gender affirmation surgeons, Ioannis Ntanos has worked with numerous trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals, performing more than 700 cases of top surgery.

His work with the trans community has led him to win doctor of the year when he was working at North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) and he is rated excellent on I Want Great Care. Most recently, Mr Ntanos led the UK’s first Top Surgery Masterclass to share his expertise with medical professional and healthcare providers, educating participants in various techniques used in top surgery and an understanding of the challenges faced by gender diverse patients. “These Awards aim to celebrate the unsung heroes who are changing perceptions and lives through their dedication and commitment to diversity and inclusion.” shared Paul Sesay, founder of the NDA. “Furthermore, they seek to inspire the next generation of diversity champions to be brave, stand up and make a difference to their communities.” The winner for each category will be announced at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral on 15th September.
