Gender affirming ‘top surgery’ included for the first time in surgical textbook

We are delighted to announce that, as of today, surgical students will be able to access guidance on gender affirming top surgery after Ioannis Ntanos was invited to contribute a chapter on the specialism for inclusion in the latest edition of a leading textbook. Mr Ntanos was approached while leading a major NHS chest contouring unit in Manchester. The Breast Surgery volume of the Companion to Specialist Surgical Practice published by Elsevier, is aimed at everyone involved in breast surgery including trainees in general surgery and more established practitioners. It is intended to be a practical reference guide providing the latest updates in surgical practice. Described by the editors as an “excellent chapter”, Mr Ntanos hopes that it will arm students, surgical residents and surgical practitioners with the information they need to help develop their understanding and awareness in this field of gender affirming care. The latest edition of the Breast Surgery volume of the Companion to Specialist Surgical Practice is now available to purchase from publisher Elsevier.
