Focusing on the future - An update to the community

Two years ago, I wrote to you about a new chapter, my decision to build a practice in Athens, so that I could offer the care you deserve at a cost that felt fair. What followed has exceeded everything I hoped for, and that is entirely because of you.
The response from the community both in Greece, in the UK, and further afield has been overwhelming. The demand for timely, compassionate, gender affirming care in Athens has grown steadily, and I have found in Greece the team, the infrastructure, and the shared vision that I had long been searching for.
For the past two years, I have been travelling between Athens and the UK, doing my best to serve both communities. And while it has been an absolute privilege, it has also taken its toll. To continue offering the standard of care you deserve - and that I hold myself to - I need to be present, rested, and fully focused. Spreading myself across two countries no longer allows me to do that.
With that in mind, I have made the decision to concentrate my practice in Athens.
This means that I will not be taking on new UK-based patients for the foreseeable future.
If you have already booked an operating date in the UK, or a consultation with the prospect of an operating date in the UK, these will NOT be affected.
I want to be clear that this is not a farewell. I have deep roots in the UK trans+ community, and I do not close the door on a future return. But for now, Athens is where I can do the most good, and where I can do it most sustainably.
For those of you who are open to travelling for your surgery, everything that has always been true remains: the same care, the same values, the same commitment - at a cost significantly lower than the UK market, even when travel and accommodation are factored in.
I have said before that working with the trans community has given me a career I could only have dreamed of. I mean that just as sincerely today as I did then. You are, collectively, one of the most gracious, resilient and remarkable groups of people I have ever had the honour of knowing. You have shaped me: as a surgeon, as an ally, and as a human being.
This next chapter is one I approach with gratitude and with hope. I look forward to continuing to serve this community from Athens, and to welcoming those who make the journey.
